About
We are a team of designers, developers, writers, producers and strategists based in Sydney and Melbourne, entrusted with some of Australia’s most iconic brands.

What we do

We work with people and businesses to help them in the evolution, reinvention or creation of their brand. We apply strategic thought to deliver effective design solutions across sectors at every scale.

How we do it

An enduring brand has the ability to stand the test of time whilst remaining flexible to changing consumer behaviours and market dynamics. When designed well, it forms a system of reusable elements, guided by clear rules and frameworks, coherently organised to enable the organisation to move faster and achieve a shared vision or purpose.

A custom ordering platform as practical as an A-Joint.

A-Joint is a utilitarian joinery system that connects standardised timbers to create functional furniture. With consistently high demand, configuring A-Joint furniture for residential and commercial spaces consumed nearly all the time of its designer, Henry Wilson, and the process for both customer and designer lacked efficiency. Maud was asked to build a website that would streamline the process and enable A-Joint to function efficiently and independently of Henry.

In collaboration with Public Office, Maud developed a website that allows customers to understand, interact with and configure their own A-Joint furniture simply and easily.

The starting point was a user-generated library of inspiring A-Joint images. By making the metadata of the furniture in the images visible, customers can explore details such as texture, materials and dimensions. This can then be used as a foundation to compare and customise new pieces of furniture according to their own needs.

Users can configure, update and save both large and small-scale projects, and print full specification documents which are then used to finalise the manufacturing process. From inspiration to outcome, the website simplifies a complex process and gives A-Joint the autonomy to evolve.

“MAUD has been an attentive and thoughtful collaborator. I have enjoyed working through the details of our design challenges and the team bring a sensitive, conceptual approach along with the technical abilities to carry it off.”
