About
We are a team of designers, developers, writers, producers and strategists based in Sydney and Melbourne, entrusted with some of Australia’s most iconic brands.

What we do

We work with people and businesses to help them in the evolution, reinvention or creation of their brand. We apply strategic thought to deliver effective design solutions across sectors at every scale.

How we do it

An enduring brand has the ability to stand the test of time whilst remaining flexible to changing consumer behaviours and market dynamics. When designed well, it forms a system of reusable elements, guided by clear rules and frameworks, coherently organised to enable the organisation to move faster and achieve a shared vision or purpose.

Branding an instantaneous payment system that lives within every digital banking environment in Australia.

In 2018, BPAY released Osko – a revolutionary payment system that makes inter-bank transfers within Australia instant. The app allows anyone to pay anyone within 60 seconds, regardless of your bank, anywhere, anytime. This pioneering service needed an identity as simple as an icon but as expressive as a brand.

BPAY is an electronic bill payment system offering Australians secure and trusted bill payments. Its latest innovation, Osko, is changing the way Australians pay each other, with payments in under a minute, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It is backed by every financial institution in Australia.

The instantaneous payment technology required an identity as efficient as the technology itself. The logo device needed to exist at every scale, from a billboard to a form field. It needed to be recognisable with no name to qualify it. It needed to work at small scale on low pixel density screens; in every colour as well as the absence of colour. It needed to be chameleonic in nature, operating effectively in the diverse contexts of every bank in Australia.

To generate engagement and loyalty, the logo operates beyond the pure functional role of the banking environments, reflecting a fully-fledged brand in a single icon. Longevity and relevance into the future, when real time payments are typical rather than remarkable, was paramount.

The design solution is truly customer centric, putting the needs of users at the heart and emphasising its functional role ahead of everything else.

“Maud did not shy away from challenges, excelling in all aspects from research and strategy to branding and logo design. They were also highly collaborative with our other agency partners, ensuring the design was not built in isolation and that we shared a clear and consistent brand vision.”
