Scope of work
Barangaroo is the $6bn redevelopment of a former docklands area on Sydney Harbour into a luxury harbourside commercial, cultural and residential precinct. At its heart, The Canteen is part of the premium food offering that caters to an estimated daily population of 23,000 visitors. Lendlease, the developers behind the project, asked Maud to develop an identity and leasing pack for The Canteen.
Based on the ethos that ‘good food leads to good community’, we designed an identity that inspires real food, communal culture and a collective spirit.
Turning the notion of a typical food court on its head, the design of the space, the branding and the signage had to appeal to artisan vendors and fussy eaters. From the very beginning of the project Lend Lease were clear that they wished to avoid creating a venue that serviced a mass produced, fast food mentality.
The end result is a brand the bonds together disparate vendors of a similar mindset and a venue in Barangaroo that successfully continues to feed 23,000 hungry workers everyday.
